The Most Common Pots And Pans To Have In Your First Kitchen

-

If you are newlywed and starting a new life from your new home you will need at least the basic items for a living. Right from your bedroom to the living room, bathroom to the storeroom, kitchen to the dining room all must have the essentials. However, when it comes to your kitchen you may at times feel at a loss and wonder what items you should include in your kitchen to set it up properly.

It will be even much more difficult if you have very little or no experience in cooking but you may love to try. In such a situation it may be a bit difficult to pinpoint on the pots and pans you should buy. Well, this article can prove to be just right a guide for you.

How to start

Just like all jobs there must be a proper plan and a strategic approach when you want to set up your kitchen. For this you will need to answer a few questions to yourself before buying cookware.

  • Think what do you cook or love to cook. This is the most important question because if you have the right answer to it you will know the exact pieces of cookware you really want. This will also prevent you from making any unnecessary expense by buying a set of cookware that is particularly cheaper but you will seldom use all the pieces in it. In short, you will have to make a cost effective choice and not a cheaper choice.
  • Next up is the choice between stainless steel and nonstick pans which may be another big issue given that you have little or no experience in cooking. Ideally, if you plan to cook a lot then it is recommended that you invest in good and branded stainless steel cookware.

If you want a unique look in your cookware collection then you can also mix and match stainless steel cookware items with the nonstick pieces such as skillets. This will not only create a better visual appeal but will also make your cooking easier and faster.

List of cookware to buy

Ideally, family cookware will include the basic or essential items whether it is made up of stainless steel or ceramic, nonstick or ordinary.  Pots and pans do not necessarily start and end with a few pots and pans in the literal sense but will also include a few other things that are essential for a couple or even for a small-size family. The list will include:

  • A small sauce pan of 2 to 4 quarts
  • A medium sauce pan of 4 to 6 quarts
  • A medium sauté pan with cover of 3 to 4 quarts
  • A big enough fry pan or skillet of 10 to 12 inches and
  • A large enough stockpot of 5 to 6 quarts.

However, if you choose to have a large sauce pan of 6 quart in your kitchen then you may skip the stockpot as you will need it less frequently. This will also help you to save some money as well.
