The one Republican in Congress who had called for Donald Trump’s arraignment is observing Independence Day in the most Justin Amash way that is available.
Rep. Justin Amash is commending this Fourth of July in a way years really taking shape: by announcing his freedom from the Republican Party.
“Regardless of your situation, I’m requesting that you go along with me in dismissing the fanatic loyalties and talk that gap and dehumanize us,” Amash wrote in a Washington Post operation ed posted Thursday morning. “I’m requesting that you accept that we can show improvement over this two-party framework — and to move in the direction of it. In the event that we keep on underestimating America, we will lose it.”
